China provides $ 500,000 in medical supplies and personal protective equipment to Fiji
Fiji’s efforts to contain COVID-19 have been amplified as the Chinese central government and the provincial government of Guangdong purchased two batches of medical supplies and personal protective equipment for Fiji valued at $ 500,000 .
The Chinese Embassy in Fiji said China fully understands the challenges Fiji is facing and is ready to provide support and assistance to help Fiji fight COVID-19.
They say the embassy is working closely with relevant departments on the shipment and is trying to do its best to expedite the arrival of these supplies.
The Chinese embassy has said China and Fiji are comprehensive strategic partners and will continue to provide anti-pandemic supplies.
They say China is ready to share best anti-pandemic practices and send a special medical team to fight the virus if necessary.
The Chinese government urgently launched a China-Pacific Island Countries Epidemic Cooperation Fund, held video conferences to share experience, and provided guidance on COVID-19 prevention and control.
They said Chinese central and local governments, businesses and non-governmental institutions have taken action and donated supplies such as test kits, ventilators and personal protective equipment to Fiji.
