The annual Annapolis Pass, Pick & Play is accepting donations of lightly used sports equipment through March 11. Now in its fifth year, Pass, Pick & Play is helping residents get rid of unused gear and equipping local families, at no cost, with sports gear they might not be able to afford. otherwise. Pass, Pick & Play is an Armstrong family initiative with support from City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks. Items are collected from four locations (see below). Donated items will be distributed at an event on Saturday, March 26, 2022, between 10 a.m. and noon, at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center.

Pass, Pick and Play accepts equipment in good working order for the following sports:

  • baseball
  • soft ball
  • basketball
  • hockey/skating
  • soccer
  • the Crosse
  • Field hockey
  • volleyball
  • tennis

Crampons and balls for all sports are particularly necessary. Equipment not accepted includes weights, golf clubs, bicycles, bicycle helmets, sneakers, broken or damaged items.

“We were only weeks away from our distribution event when COVID-19 stopped us in our tracks,” said Lachlan Armstrong, initiative co-founder and junior at The Key School. “Since then, we have worked hard to find creative ways to get the equipment to the community. We are so excited to be back now at the ‘Pip’ Moyer Rec Center where it all started. I look forward to helping kids choose new equipment – I really love seeing the smiles on their faces as they try on cleats, swing a bat or kick a soccer ball.
